Verse of the week #4
Paul says to us in Acts 24, “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offense toward God, and toward men.”
Exercise.
Back when I was a junior in high school, I played volleyball. That sport came to an end just before my senior year due to an acl and mcl tear in my knee. After my tear I was weak, fragile, hurt emotionally and physically, I was wounded. In order to gain strength back were I had been wounded I need to exercise.
Exercise in Greek means askeo. This translates to “engage in activity with both effort and continuity.
In order to heal I need focused exercise in that specific area. If I didn’t properly handled then my wound wouldn’t have healed. I would still be in pain, still weak.
People who exercise get stronger and begin to not be easily wounded. Just as we can be strong in the physical we can be in the spiritual. We can also be weak.
Just as I focused on exercise in my knee I needed to focus on and exercise in the word, so I can gain strength from sin, from offense.
Psalms tells us, great peace have them, who love you word and nothing can offend them.
Bottom Line:
It is just as important to exercise spiritually as it is physically.
